OUR INSTRUCTORS & PRACTITIONERS

Our instructors are trained in several styles of yoga. many are trained in kula-kamala-yoga which is a style of yoga that is centered in anahata (the heart) chakra, spiritually uplifting, therapeutically oriented and with a strong focus on alignment.

Our classes are purposefully small to provide an intimate practice environment. kula-kamala-yoga is appropriate for all levels of practice and is not particular to any one dogma.

We believe true happiness emerges as faith, love and compassion deepen.

Terry Tiplady E-RYT200 aka “Abhaya”.  As a certified yoga instructor, she is also a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT).  Terry’s first exposure to the practice of yoga dates back to the 70’s when she discovered Lilias Folan and Richard Hittleman sharing their knowledge on PBS!  As a practicing Jnana Yogi (the path of knowledge and wisdom),  Terry has always believed that the physical aspect of yoga provides a tangible access, or stepping stone to what’s really going on deep within the mind.  Through self-study (svadhyaya), we can embark on a fearless (abhaya) journey to enlightenment, allowing each of us to rest in our own true nature.  Yoga is not about standing on your head, it’s about standing on your feet – remaining balanced and poised as we surf the waves of life. Terry entered her Teacher Training Program at Freehold Yoga Center in October 2000.  Her six month program covered over 300 hours of training in Asana, Pranayama, Meditation, Mantra Chanting, World Religion, Anatomy and Physiology, Diet and Nutrition, Sanskrit, and Yoga Philosophy under the direction of master teachers trained in the Sivananda, Integral, and Kundalini Yoga traditions.  Always a student first, Terry has trained with, and continues to be inspired by the teachings of Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji, Sri Swami Padmapadanandaji, Senior Yogacharya Srinivasan, Reverend Jaganath Carrera(Integral), Sri Dharma Mittra, Suzie Hurley(Anusara), Gary Kraftsow(Viniyoga), Rod Stryker, and Pandit Rajmani Tigunait(Himalayan), just to name a few.  She will remain forever grateful to her guru, Potti Swamiji, who melted her heart at the Sivananda Ashram in Woodbourne, NY in February of 2001. A graduate of Georgian Court College (with degrees in Business Administration and French), Terry left her high-tech computer career in 2001 to dedicate herself to her family, and the teachings of yoga. Terry has shared her knowledge of yoga with students at the Freehold Yoga Center, the Ocean County YMCA, and is happy to serve at Kula-Kamala-Yoga!  Terry is blessed with her wonderful husband Tom, and her gentle-hearted son, Michael.
