WELCOME!
The kula-kamala-yoga school of yoga offers a truly holistic environment where community,  inspiration & well-being matter. We cultivate a vibrant, peace-filled, non-competitive and non-judgmental, sacred learning & practicing environment. We have highly trained professional  yoga instructors who are deeply committed to their students. We believe that yoga is for everyone. New and experienced students are welcome. We will happily guide you toward a practice that is appropriate for you. Our classes are purposefully small and structured such that every student feels welcome, safe and attended to. Flexibility is not a prerequisite for attending a yoga class.

OUR STYLE:
kula-kamala-yoga  is a style of yoga that is centered in anahata (the heart) chakra,  spiritually uplifting, therapeutically oriented and with a strong focus  on alignment. Our work also includes a significant commitment to seva or service to our community. Our  style is appropriate for all levels of practice and is not particular  to any one dogma. Our students come from all walks of life and from all  religious backgrounds. We DO NOT taut religion. We DO taut happiness and  self acceptance. We believe true happiness emerges as faith, love and  compassion deepen.  Whatever YOU believe in, yoga can deepen that belief as the wonders of presence opens our hearts to the completeness of the Universe.

At kula-kamala-yoga, we see yoga as a healing modality through which people can integrate body, mind & spirit bringing an end to oppression and suffering for themselves and for all beings. We work to create an environment that is conducive to true yogic living. We abide deeply in the yogic and buddhist philosophy of sangha (supportive community) and we are deeply committed to heart centered yoga and philosophical teachings which espouse that to love is the only path to true happiness.
We teach in an uplifting manner meant to enable the student to move toward alignment of body, mind and spirit.

ABOUT YOGA.
Yoga, which originated in India, has been transformed in many ways throughout its history and has grown into  a life practice embraced by millions worldwide. Yoga is not an exercise routine. The practice of asana (posture) is only one facet of yoga practice. Meditation, Pranayama, Nada, Kriya are a few of the others. There are many. You do not need to know all the facets in order to see and experience the value of yoga. A single yoga class is often enough to bring a new vibrancy to our experience and a new hop to our step. Through Yoga we learn  to embrace and yet transcend the ordinary as well as the extraordinary  and all in a single breath, in what is called the "now" or the "present  moment". Yoga enhances our personal growth & healing through the jewels of wisdom it imparts. A few of the jewels of yoga: we are all connected, the Divine thrives within each  of us, the only true answers in this life are the ones  established within the grace and light of love.

Y
OGA THERAPEUTICS
w/SUDHA

What are clients saying about yoga therapy w/Sudha?

Over the course of more than 10 years, I've tried many different forms of treatment for my chronic pain. Some worked, some didn't, and some made me even more miserable! Fortunately, through the advice of a friend, I started going to yoga classes, and was kindly offered Yoga Therapy sessions by Sudha Allitt.  I found this route to be one of the most effective I've tried. It's not invasive or painful, as many "treatments" are. It loosened the tightness in my body and greatly alleviated the pain in my joints, as well as improving mobility and posture. In addition, many elements of Yoga Therapy are incorporated at home, making it a great choice for those with busy schedules. Most importantly, I learned a lot about the mind-body connection. For all the physical good that yoga therapy did for me, the most important element was my realizing that my body isn't something to "fix," but rather to improve upon, and ultimately accept. The feeling of not being at war with my own health (and self!) was the greatest gift of all. For all these reasons and more, I'd give Yoga Therapy the highest recommendation.

At age 30, I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis.  Severe inflammation fused the joints in my ankles and wrists and 20 years later is still attacking my elbow. The pain from movement limited my activity and I found it difficult to find an exercise program I was comfortable with.  My husband began taking classes at kula-kamala-yoga and encouraged me to try it.  Texting Sudha after my first yoga therapy session “I feel great!” is the sensation that has continued through the past 4 months.  After each private session or class, my joints have a broader range of motion, I have better body awareness, and my body feels “alive”.  All practice is in a gentle manner, focusing on respecting and honoring my body (not my typical frame of mind).  Sudha shares her knowledge of physiology and has taught me ways to alter poses to facilitate my damaged joints.  Her instruction is always positive and encouraging.  Turning 50 in a few months is daunting, but I believe that my yoga practice is making me feel more youthful in mind and body.   Thanks to Sudha and the staff at kula-kamala-yoga.  Your work is appreciated!
